Let's talk about taking care of ourselves - inside and out!
So my birthday month has officially stared and each year I try to look at how I treat myself. The Pisces in me cares for others and their well-being, but that can be sometimes feel like it is at the price of the care for myself because I feel guilty for putting myself first. I believe that is why I became a teacher 22 years ago. I never make resolutions at the start of the year, but I do look at my own wellness when my birthday month comes around each March.
My self care goals for 2020 are both for inside and out. These are a few things that I am going to do for myself this year.
I will get my closets (yes I said closets--- my house was built in 1949 so the closets are tiny) pared down. I will by no means "Marie Kondo" my wardorbe, but I will definitely reorganize and then sell/consign/donate anything I am truly not using anymore. It is TRUE that we only use a fraction of the clothing that we own and I know that it is time that I make some cuts.
I will buy myself matching lingerie (bra/bottoms). Lately I have found myself wearing comfortable underpinnings, but I love the idea of having special pieces to wear under my everyday clothes. This is to make me feel special inside and out. My husband loves this idea! 😉 I have already started this process and will share some pictures and links below. The key is to find a great sales associate (I found mine at Neiman Marcus)
I will continue to volunteer. For the past 2 years, I have volunteered for an organization that helps girls get free dresses for prom and it makes me so happy to combine volunteering to support girls with my love of fashion. Each March I get to help change lives and it fills my heart each time. I volunteer with Princess Project SF.
Keep in touch with friends and family. In my effort to be the best I can at work and with my long commute, I find myself losing touch with people I care about. I am going to make a concerted effort to call/text/message people so they know that I care and am thinking about them. I must get better at this!
Hope this inspires you to be sure to take care of yourself in addition to all you do!
