LOFT x Stylish Teacher - Stylish Dressing for School with the Capsule Approach

Updated: Sep 27, 2021

Hi Everyone! Let’s talk back to school, the fall transition and style for Educators. I know from 25+ years in education that dressing for work when you are a teacher can be a challenge for even the most savvy fashionista/educator to be ready for in-person teaching especially when I taught 5th grade. I know that being in California makes my weather situation unique, that is why I buy to dress in layers - which I think works no matter where you live.

So I wanted to chat with you about creating a capsule-like wardrobe with key pieces that are mix and match, but also can be easily incorporated into your current wardrobe. As are part of this blog- LOFT gifted me some pieces from their new arrivals that I put together as a mini collection to integrate with your current closet. I also created an inspiration board on Pinterest with the pieces I will talk about today as well as others from LOFT that can work in your fall wardrobe. LOFT INSPIRATION BOARD

This post is sponsored by LOFT where you can get an educator discount until 9/13/21. It is a simple process to verify you are a teacher (with your school email address) and then you can shop with an EXTRA 15% off most items on the site!

Now for the Capsule Picks for Fall (some items in the pics gifted by LOFT, some are from my closet) *I will add links to the Loft items as well as to some of my incorporated items - click the names or pictures to find each one*

White Pleated Collar Blouse - This blouse can be worn by itself or paired with just about any bottom. The embroidered fabric adds texture to an outfit. I have paired it with both the LOFT jeans and leggings. I have also put it under the navy striped sweater, under the space dyed cardigan and even under the sweater tank. It is a great versatile piece! I got a size large.

Star Crew Neck Tee (light beechwood) - Of course tees work as a layering piece or as the “star” of the show! Pair it with a cardigan or under a blazer. I got a size large.

Navy Striped Sweater - I LOVE stripes and a navy sweater is a great way to incorporate a stripe into an outfit. This one has a slightly slouchy cut, so it is great to layer in a few ways!

Space Dyed Cardigan - This cardigan is a cozy and stylish layer over the white blouse, a white/cream tee or over the matching tank. Pair it with neutrals or greys - the weave even has hints of blush/pink. I matched it with jeans, but it could be easily paired with your favorite trousers, chinos or denim skirt.

Space Dyed Sweater Tank- So this tank works on its own or paired with the cardigan. I love layering in new ways, so I also put it over the white blouse to add more texture and layers to my outfit.

Flared Jeans (super dark) - Pick your most comfortable jeans - no need to feel uncomfortable as you do your important work. I always choose dark wash because it doesn’t look as casual. This pair also comes in a curvy version!

High Rise Essential Legging- I picked these because they can be so versatile. On their own as well as under dresses they can offer a great layer to add to your wardrobe. I selected navy because it goes so well with browns and grays and because most of us already have black ones!

I hope this inspires you to add pieces to your collection that not only work with each other, but can be seamlessly incorporated into this fall transition!

Thank you for reading! ~Dawn
